HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. – Erva R. Scherbinske, 89, formerly of Sterling, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015, at Meadow Lark Gardens, Board and Care in Huntington Beach.
Erva was born Dec. 2, 1925, in Kulm, North Dakota, the daughter of John F. and Emma F. (Kusler) Doering. She married Edwin Scherbinske on Feb. 28, 1947, in Kulm. He preceded her in death Dec. 11, 1995.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (Gene) Courtright and Julie (John Fitzgerald) Carey, both of Westminster, California; one son, Dale (Joyce) Scherbinske of Mount Prospect; four grandchildren, Gilbert (Tina) Carey, Robert (Erin) Scherbinski, Scott (Merdith) Scherbinski, and Diane Scherbinski; and three great-grandchildren, Ethan Carey, Vera Scherbinski, and Coral Scherbinski
She also was preceded in death by two sisters, Hilda Henne and Erna Schafer.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Schilling Funeral Home in Sterling. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Hasselbring, pastor of First Church of the Nazarene in Sterling, officiating. Burial will be at Oak Knoll Memorial Park in Sterling.
A memorial has been established to Alzheimer’s Association.
