Vernon K. Miller

SHEFFIELD – Vernon Kaye Miller, 70, of Manlius, died at 2:18 p.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015, at Unity Point Health in Peoria.

He was born Aug. 13, 1944, in Kewanee, the son of Virgil and Billie (Bennett) Miller. Vernon was a 1962 graduate of Manlius High School. He was a lifetime farmer. Vernon was a member of Manlius Sportsman's Club and Bureau County Farm Bureau.

Survivors include two daughters, Christine Bohms of Oregon, and Janelle (Mike) Smith of Sheffield; two sons, Timothy K. Miller and Matthew (Belinda) Miller, both of Sheffield; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Jon Miller of Sheffield; his significant other, Cheryl Bishop of Sheffield; and niece, Joleen (Dan) Zulkowsky-Cook of Paducah, Kentucky.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ryan Niedziela; and sister, Paula Zulkowsky.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manlius. The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Brian Moore officiating. Burial will be at Mineral Cemetery. Grant-Johnson Funeral Home in Manlius is handling arrangements.

Pallbearers are Jim Thompson, Kenneth Brummel, Richard Brummel, Scott Milby, Greg Whitmer, Ed Wilhelm, and Spencer Davis. Honorary pallbearers are Thomas Jones, Lowell Kepner, Bob Hensel, and Bill Wessel

Memorials have been established to the family of Vernon Kaye Miller and Manlius Rescue Squad.
