Man arrested in connection with two Crest Hill robberies

CREST HILL – Police arrested a man last week in connection with two stickups in Crest Hill, but not the city’s most recent.

Crest Hill Deputy Chief Brad Hertzmann said detectives were contacted by Joliet police on Thursday after Demarius S. Walker, 22, acknowledged he was involved in two robberies.

In November, a gunman came into Rosati’s Pizza, 1490 Cedarwood Drive, and took more than $2,000 when he fled.

On July 3, the bandit struck at JJ Fish & Chicken, 1200 Cedarwood Drive, but only grabbed $200, according to Hertzmann.

Walker, of the 2000 block of Mason Avenue in Joliet, was booked into the Will County jail on two counts of armed robbery and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. He is being held on $1 million bond.

Meanwhile, police are continuing to investigate a July 11 incident when a masked man robbed City Sports athletic wear in the Hillcrest Shopping Center and left in the owner's Mitsubishi.

Hertzmann said detectives do not believe Walker was involved in that holdup, which is still under investigation.
