McHenry woman injured in motorcycle crash that killed Ingleside man

INGLESIDE – Lake County Sheriff's police are investigating a crash that killed an Ingleside man driving a motorcycle late Wednesday, officials said.

The Lake County Sheriff's Deputies responded at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday at Wooster Lake Road and Wilson Road for a crash involving a motorcycle and a car, according to a news release. Fox Lake Fire Protection District also responded.

Preliminary investigation shows that Nikolas D. Marcopoulos, 23, of Ingleside, and a passenger, Allison N. Morrison, 20, of McHenry, were driving northbound in a 2009 Buell on Wilson Road approaching Wooster Lake Road, according to a news release.

Marcopoulos began to pass a northbound 2009 Toyota in a no passing zone as it turned left toward Wooster Lake Road, according to the release.

Morrison was ejected form the motorcycle when it struck the side of the turning Toyota, according to the release. She was flown to Advocate Condell Hospital in critical condition.

As of Thursday afternoon, Morrison was in serious condition, said Chris Vicik, director of public affairs at Advocate Condell Hospital.

Marcopoulos, who stayed with the motorcycle after the impact, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.

The driver of the Toyota, Matthew V. Paret, 20, of Round Lake, was transported to Centegra Hospital-McHenry with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, according to the release.

The Lake County Sheriff's Department is handling the crash, and dispatchers said shortly before 6:30 a.m. all roads were open.
