Roger E. Satterfield, 71, Mt. Morris, died on Monday, June 15, 2015 at Rockford Memorial Hospital with his daughters by his side.
Roger was born on Aug. 17, 1943, the son of Leonard E. and Margaret R. (Davison) Satterfield.
He graduated from Mt. Morris High School in the Class of 1961.
He served in the U.S. Army for a year, before he came home to help with his family.
Roger had a heart of gold which he would do anything for anyone.
He loved attending his grandchildren’s activities, and the local school’s sporting events of which he was the biggest fan.
Roger loved auctions, and spending time at different spots in town talking with many people.
Roger is survived by his daughters, Dee-Dee Satterfield, Delavan, Shari (Rodney) Teal, Delavan, Kristina (Rick) Schurman, Pekin; grandchildren, Braylin (Zander) Curry, Normal, Kylie (Nick Marksity) Teal, Delavan, Trevor Teal, Delavan, Teagan Teal, Delavan, Megan Teal, Delavan, Katelyn (Larry Lymangrover) Weaver, Pekin, Lacey Weaver, Pekin, Jonathan Weaver, Pekin, Emma Hutchison, Pekin, and Jersey Hutchison, Pekin; great-grandchildren, Paisley Lymangrover, Pekin, Berkley and Brynnlee Marksity, Delavan, and two more on the way; brothers, Jerry (Shirley) Satterfield, Rockford, and Marvin (Cheryl) Satterfield, Mt. Morris; many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-laws, Barb Satterfield and Donna Satterfield.
He was preceded in death his parents, and brothers, Donald and Richard Satterfield.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday June 20 at 10:30 a.m. at Finch Funeral Home, 405 E. Hitt St., Mt. Morris, with Pastor Chuck Grogan officiating.
Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, Mt. Morris, at a later date.
Visitation will be Friday, June 19 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Finch Funeral Home.
Roger was a donor for Gift of Hope, where he will continue to help people.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established as The Roger Satterfield Athletic Scholarship.
