BATAVIA – A Hampshire man was charged Thursday in connection with two incidents during which he exposed himself to a female, according to a Batavia Police Department news release.
Richard S. Moscato, 39, of the 700 block of Kathi Drive, Hampshire, was charged with two misdemeanor counts of public indecency, the release states.
Moscato on Thursday was taken to the Batavia Police Department for questioning after two indecent exposure incidents yielded similar descriptions of a car with a male driver and a specific license plate number registered to Moscato, according to the release.
The first incident occurred at 7:34 a.m. Wednesday in the area of Larkspur Lane and Thrun Court in Batavia, the release states. A female was walking near the intersection when a man, later identified as Moscato, pulled up next to her in a gray four-door vehicle.
The female saw the man expose himself, perform a sexual act and then drive off, according to the release. The female gave a description of the man and his car to police.
The second incident occurred at 7:30 a.m. Thursday in the area of Winnebago Trail and Robin Drive in Batavia, the release states. As in the first incident, a man with a gray four-door vehicle pulled up next to the woman. This time, the female heard the man ask for directions, according to the release.
As the female got closer to the man’s car, she noticed the man was not wearing pants and was performing a sexual act, the release states. The man left in the vehicle, but the female was able to write down its license plate number, according to the release.
Moscato was located in Aurora and then brought to Batavia police for questioning, the release states. After investigators spoke with Moscato, he was charged and released after posting bail, according to police.
A court date for the case was not immediately available Thursday evening. If convicted, the penalty for the charges is up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine, according to the release.
