STANFORD, Calif. – The dominant duo of Thomas Jaeschke and Jeff Jendryk were too much for Lewis University to overcome as Loyola University’s men’s volleyball team captured its second straight NCAA national championship with a 21-25, 25-23, 25-15, 25-27, 23-21 win Saturday.

Jaeschke, a Wheaton Warrenville South graduate and Loyola junior, finished with a team-high 20 kills to go along with nine digs and three aces.

Jendryk, a St. Francis grad, added 17 kills and nine blocks and was tapped as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player.

Earlier last week, Jaeschke was picked as the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division I-II National Player of the Year. He is the first Loyola player to net such an award.

Jendryk also was named as the American Volleyball Coaches Association Newcomer of the Year and was selected to the All-America second team.

Jaeschke, a junior outside hitter, finished the season with a team-high 388 kills to go along with 195 digs and 55 aces. Jendryk, a freshman middle, posted 196 kills with 115 blocks and 33 digs on the year.
