Libertyville Massage Therapy Clinic celebrates 30 years

LIBERTYVILLE – A community party will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. June 5 at Libertyville Massage Therapy Clinic, 128, Newberry Ave., Libertyville, to celebrate the business' 30-year anniversary, according to a news release.

Founder and owner Jan O'Malley works to help clients improve their well-being, relieve tension, sooth sore muscles, strengthen one's ability to cope with life and enhance athletic performances, in addition to speeding up recovery from soft tissue injuries, the release stated.

"Our clients' well-being is utmost on our minds," O'Malley said. "We work very hard to educate the public on the emotional and physical gains they can make by putting themselves in the hands of our professional massage therapists. We provide a science-based muscle therapy for pain relief."

O'Malley said each client is interviewed before their massage for therapists to clearly understand their needs. In addition, self-care advice is offered after the session, she said.

The Lake Villa resident started her private practice in her home 30 years ago, but soon expanded to a full clinic. Clients range from football players to student athletes, politicians, grandparents, children, business owners and stay-at-home parents, the release stated.

Massage therapy was an $11.7 billion industry in the U.S. in 2014, with an estimated 300,000 to 350,000 licensed massage therapists and massage school students, according to the American Massage Therapy Association.

Jan's daughter, Jillian O'Malley works at the clinic as an office manager. Jillian O'Malley said she sees "first-hand the difference in clients as they come in with pain and leave feeling much better, sometimes with no pain at all."

Clinic hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
