Andrew J. Ruiz

ASHTON – Andrew Jonathan “A.J.” Ruiz, 22, recently of Ashton and formerly of Dixon, died Thursday, March 12, 2015, in Ashton.

He was born Aug. 20, 1992, in Maywood, the son of Gustavo and Rebecca (Weber) Ruiz.

Andrew was a 2010 graduate of Dixon High School and since worked at Crest Foods in Ashton. He also obtained his associate degree from Sauk Valley Community College, where he was involved with, and very much enjoyed, its drama club. Andrew loved music, and playing the bass guitar, and was very personable to all. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon.

He is survived by his mother, Rebecca Breckenfelder of Dixon; father, Gustavo (Donna) Ruiz of Texas; stepfather, Peter Breckenfelder of Sycamore; brother, Alex Breckenfelder of Dixon; sisters, Melody Breckenfelder of Dixon, and Samantha, Jessica, and Melissa Ruiz; maternal grandparents, Father Ronald Weber, Randall Ziegeldorf and Nila Potter; paternal grandparents, Felix Ruiz and Joann Ruiz; and special friend, Alyssa “Lyss” Kutz.

Andrew was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Sandy Weber.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Farrell-Holland-Gale Funeral Home in Oregon. Christian Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Oregon, with the Rev. Richard Kramer as celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery in Oregon, followed by a funeral luncheon at St. Mary Parish Center.
