HINSDALE – The 93-pound Gold team from Hinsdale Falcons football achieved absolute perfection on Sunday.
The Falcons faced Glen Ellyn in the championship game of the Bill George Youth Football League playoffs and won 7-0 to finish the season undefeated at 11-0. The game was held at Benedictine University in Lisle.
The game went through four scoreless quarters before the Falcons landed the decisive blow in overtime.
Bill O'Malley found the end zone and Joey Antonietti ran in the extra point for a 7-0 lead. Then the defense did its part and kept the Eagles out of the end zone on their ensuing possession to secure the win.
Falcons' players this season were: Antonietti, O'Malley, Sean Allison, Vinny Galassi, Eliot Harris, Zach Hayes, Mikey Hinchman, Calum Kelly, David Laughter, Jack Levine, Carter Lyons, Lynden McCarroll, A.J. Panos, Steven Schnur, Mason Shaker, Tommy Skokna and J.P. Sporleder. The team was coached by Steve Schnur, Chris Allison, David Laughter and Nick Galassi.
In addition to the 93-pound Gold team, the Falcons had four other teams make it to BGYFL championship games.
The NFC JV team played the Wheaton Rams, the AFC Senior team faced Elmhurst and the Silver Senior squad squared off with Lombard for titles Sunday at Benedictine. The Silver AFC team won 20-0 while the Silver Senior team emerged with a 24-14 victory. The Silver JV squad faced Elmhurst for the title and won 13-6.
