Celestino: 'Unafraid to make big changes in right direction'

To Whiteside County District 1 voters:

My name is Shane Celestino, and I am asking to represent you on the Whiteside County Board.

I’m 30 years old, married, first child due in late February, independent running as a Republican, associate's degree from Sauk, 2 years township government experience, family and community oriented.

My generation has been handed a mangled state by its predecessors, thanks to party politics, political correctness, and promised goodies.

Quite frankly, the way Illinois is headed, it would probably make more sense to relocate. However, I have a heart for Illinois and am not running from this fight.

Government, at any level, is an institution created by the citizens with a specific contract to follow. If elected, I will abide by those contracts to the best of my judgment.

Peers, we have our work cut out for us. Someday we’re going to hand this state over to our children, good or bad, with no one to shoulder the results other than us. The solutions and leadership it will take to fix this state are in us, and the sooner we get involved, the better.
