JOLIET – On Oct. 19, hundreds of patients, families and staff at Westside Children’s Therapy in Joliet represented the gamut of superheroes, princesses and other characters at Westside Children’s Therapy first Fall Fest.
The day embodied the Westside vision – building an extended family through therapy. The idea for the fall fest originated when Westside staff teams received a $500 stipend and a nondescript challenge of “doing something good for our office.”
Dozens of car trunks lined the Joliet clinic parking lot with a variety of themes for the Trunk or Treat. There was a variety of refreshments, from cotton candy and popcorn to desserts to hot chocolate. Other features were Halloween-themed games, prizes, costume contest and prize for best-decorated trunk.
Justin Hafner’s Buzz Lightyear costume won first prize for the costume contest. A close runner-up was Coleman Berg as Indiana Jones. The winner of the trunk contest was the Wizard of OZ theme by Lanie Frankel, Guz Moreno and Sara Ventsias; and the best-dressed of them all was Hazel (Lanie’s dog) as the Cowardly Lion. Second place went to Jonathan Dillon and family for their Veggie Tales trunk.
Closing out the event was the Will County Sheriff’s Department.
