CRYSTAL LAKE – Prairie Grove-based heat-treating services company TC Industries Inc. recently bought a 105,000-square-foot building in Crystal Lake to expand its operations.
TC Industries, 3703 S. Route 31, will expand its business with the facility, which is located near the intersection of Rakow and Virginia Roads. The building was previously used by Eisenmann Corp.
Along with the building acquisition will come as many as 50 additional jobs over the next few years, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.
“We’re delighted to extend our company’s great history by growing our heat-treated steel products capability here in Crystal Lake,” TC Industries President and COO George Berry IV said in the release.
Berry added the site became more appealing with the recent improvements to Rakow Road and Route 31, plus the 10- and five-ton cranes in the building, which will serve as muscle for the company’s operations.
The endeavor was a welcome one for Mary Margaret Maule, president of the Crystal Lake Chamber of Commerce.
“I just think it’s a fantastic win for the city of Crystal Lake, for TC Industries and for citizens at large,” Maule said. “We were able to help a local business expand, keep resources within the community, as well as fill a building that’s been waiting for its next chapter.
“We’re just so thankful they chose Crystal Lake to expand.”
In the news release, Crystal Lake Mayor Aaron Shepley said the city enjoyed working with the company and providing it with the necessary support to bring the endeavor to fruition.
“TC Industries’ growth here in Crystal Lake is important to the city, and our efforts to minimize the costs of doing business here are intended to support new and existing business,” Shepley said.
In addition to its McHenry County facilities, TC Industries has two subsidiary companies in Canada and one in England.
TC Industries was formed in 1972 after several companies merged with American Terra Cotta & Ceramic Company, previously a supplier of exterior facade materials.
