Short jail sentence ordered in Kingston frog-carcass case

SYCAMORE — The Kingston man accused of dropping 15 to 20 dead frogs on his neighbor's porch will have to seek a psychiatric evaluation, court records show.

Jay Behles, 21, of the 300 block of Willow Street, was sentenced to two months in DeKalb County Jail after pleading guilty July 14 to criminal damage to property. He had 8 days left on the sentence when given credit for time served and good behavior.

Presiding Judge Robbin Stuckert ordered Behles to obtain a psychiatric evaluation by Sept. 23. According to police, Behles damaged his neighbor's welcome mat on her porch. He admitted to hunting frogs, cleaning them, and then dumping them on his neighbor's porch to bother her.

Behles also admitted to violating his two-year probation sentence. He pleaded guilty Feb. 20 to retail theft, court records show.
