Two from Berwyn charged in armed robbery

BERWYN – Peter Bloodgood, 22, and Angelo Rodriguez, 20, both of Berwyn, were among four people charged with armed robbery after an incident Thursday in Niles, according to a Niles Police Department press release.

A 34-year-old Niles woman was reportedly stopped by two semi-masked subjects with handguns who took her purse and a tote bag as she was exiting her garage at 2:27 a.m., according to the release.

A vehicle matching the description of a vehicle that left the scene of the robbery was stopped 15 minutes later, and two of the occupants of the vehicle fled on foot and escaped, the release said.

According to the release, police apprehended three other people in the vehicle and found the victim's stolen items and two loaded handguns, which serial numbers showed had been reported stolen to the Brookfield Police Department.

Police were able to determine the identities of the two escapees, who they apprehended Thursday, the release said.

The other two charged were Mercedes Alvarez, 22, and Julian Cortez, 21, both of Chicago.
