Surveillance video released from shooting that killed Bensenville store clerk

BENSENVILLE – Police have released surveillance video from Sam's Tobacco and Food Mart in Bensenville, where a clerk was shot and killed Sunday.

The video shows clerk Hussein Saghir, 36, of Chicago and another employee exiting the store when they were confronted by two men. During a brief struggle, one of the men displayed a handgun and shot Saghir before both men fled.

Police responded to a possible armed robbery and shooting about 6 p.m. at the store at 235 W. Irving Park Road.

When officers arrived, they found Saghir, who had been shot, on the ground in front of the business. Bensenville Fire Protection District paramedics transported him to Elmhurst Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Bensenville Police Department is investigating the incident with the DuPage County Major Crime Task Force.
