FBI search for Downers Grove bank robbery suspect

DOWNERS GROVE – The FBI and Downers Grove police are looking for a man suspected of robbing the American Chartered Bank at 2205 Butterfield Road just before 11 a.m. Friday.

The robber was described by witnesses as a black man in his 20s or early 30s, about 5 feet, 7 inches tall with a thin build, a light complexion and a scruffy face. He wore a black-and-white checkered hat, a black-and-white checkered and zippered jacket, blue jeans and white gloves, according to the FBI.

According to witnesses, the suspect made a verbal demand for money, implying he had a weapon and keeping one hand inside a jacket pocket.

He left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash.

No injuries were reported in connection with the robbery.
