Lisle Police Department names new chief

LISLE – The village of Lisle has named David Anderson as its new chief of police, according to a Wednesday news release from the village.

Anderson, who has served as a deputy chief for three years, will replace former Chief Jim Kosatka, who retired Nov. 27. after 34 years with the department.

"We thought the last couple weeks should be about Chief Kosatka closing out his outstanding career with the village," said Mayor Joe Broda in the release. "Now it's time to make the permanent appointment that everyone no doubt expected."

Throughout his 22 years at the Lisle Police Department, Anderson, a Woodridge resident, has worked as patrol officer, patrol sergeant, detective sergeant and watch commander.

"His recent tenure as deputy chief has only reaffirmed his abilities," Village Manager Jerry Sprecher said in the release. "Dave's leadership has had no small influence in creating the kind of department we have today. I think the department will do great things with him in the lead."

Anderson's appointment will be finalized during Monday's Village Board Meeting, at which he'll be sworn in to the position. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at 925 Burlington Ave., Lisle.
