MARK — Derrick S. Tate, 39, of Mark died Thursday, Sept. 19, 2013, at St. Margaret's Hospital in Spring Valley.
Derrick was born on Feb. 9, 1974, in Barstow, Fla., the son of Lee Tate and Sue Sarver. He was united in marriage to Kasie Lindburgh on March 22, 2008, in Nevada. He was employed at Peru Home Entertainment. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, playing pool and hanging out with his friends.
He is survived by his wife, Kasie Tate of Mark; one son, Braden Tate of Ottawa; his parents, Sue and Rick Maynard of Tiskilwa, and Lee Tate of LaMoille; two brothers, Denny Tate of Princeton and Josh (Erica) Maynard of Lincoln; his grandmother, Betty Maynard; his mother- and father-in-law, Babette and Kevin Duncan; three sister-in-laws, Becky Duncan, Jody Stites and Erica Maynard; two brothers-in-law, Jack Stites and Tom Churchwell; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
Cremation rites were accorded. A time of sharing will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Garland Funeral Home, Walnut, with Pastor Jack Stites, pastor of the First Congregational Church of Bureau and the Rev. Mark Harkness, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Walnut, co-officiating. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial of cremains will be in the Walnut Cemetery.
