Addison Trail student hit by car in Chicago

ADDISON – A 19-year-old Addison man is in critical condition after being hit by a car while running across Lake Shore Drive early Sunday, according to media reports.

Dylan Domek, of Addison, is a student at Addison Trail High School who was planning to graduate Sunday. He and a group of others were in Chicago and stepped over a guardrail just after midnight Sunday, running across the northbound lanes in the 1300 block of North Lake Shore Drive.

Domek stumbled and was struck by a 2003 BMW 325, police said, and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital in critical condition. He suffered injuries to his head and legs.

The female driver of the BMW remained on the scene, and no citations or charges had been filed. An underground walkway was located near the scene of the accident, police said.

Domek was a linebacker on Addison Trail's football team. Support services are being offered for students, staff members and others who need assistance by calling 630-628-3300.

"District 88 students, staff and community members have rallied around the Domek family and shown that Dylan is a true Addison Trail Blazer," Addison Trail Principal Adam Cibulka said in a news release. "Dylan and his family remain in our thoughts and prayers, and we appreciate everyone continuing to support the family and respecting their privacy during this difficult time."
