Harold A. ‘Hal’ Hokenson

MINERAL POINT, Wis. – Harold A. “Hal” Hokenson, formerly of Sterling, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2013, in Arizona. He taught middle school band for 25 years in Sterling, retiring in 2000.

Harold was born Oct. 27, 1931, on the family farm of Algot and Hilda Hokenson, near Independence, Iowa. He served for 3 years in the Air Force. He married Phyllis Boldt on Dec. 22, 1956. She preceded him in death.

Survivors include his son Eric (LeeAnn) of Brookings, S.D.; his daughter, Janel (Greg) Huyett of Chandler, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and one sister, Esther (Roger) Wetlaufer (Roger) of Tucson, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, and one brother.

Friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday and the funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Gorgen Funeral Home in Mineral Point. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Mineral Point.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hope Lutheran Church in Mineral Point, Wis.
