PREP ROUNDUP: DeKalb's Brown sets school record in triple jump, wins invite

DeKalb's Jasmine Brown closed out the indoor season with a first-place finish in the Class 3A triple jump at the Top Times Invitational with a school-record jump of 39 feet, 9.5 inches on Saturday. Brown also took fourth in the long jump at 18-4.75.

Sycamore's David Emmert took third in the Class 2A 800-meter run, finishing in 2:01.Sycamore sophomore Dion Hooker was fourth in the 60 in 7.12.

DeKalb junior Kelsey Schrader took sixth in the Class 3A 1600 at 5:12.

Kaneland's Lauren Zick took second in the long jump with a mark of 18-5 and also placed eighth in the 60.

Sycamore's Logan Wright and Kaneland's Marshall Farthing tied for ninth in the high jump at 6-0. Sycamore's Lilia Edwards took eighth in the triple jump at 34-4.5

Kaneland's Nate Dyer was seventh in the shot put while Brianna Bower was fourth in the 3200 at 11:26 and teammate Abby Dodis took ninth in 11:48.

The Kaneland 4x800 relay took fourth in 8:18.

BADMINTON

Draper takes third: Tristan Draper took third place in No. 1 singles at the Ram Invitational. Draper lost to the division champion in the first round, but rallied to win her next three matches, including a come-from-behind win in the consolation final.
