Dancers present 'Sound of Music' takeoff

DeKALB – StudioM will present "Twirlin' with the Von Trapps," an original dance adaptation of the classic musical, "The Sound of Music," on Saturday, June 9 at Boutell Memorial Concert Hall, on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors and children ages 3 to 14. Children ages 2 and younger are admitted free. Tickets are available at the dance studio through Thursday, June 7, or at the door.

Hannah Haak will be featured in the lead role of Maria. Dancing as the Von Trapp family are Abbey Brooks, Sammie Coakley, Kailey Davison, Abby Goldman, Sophie Hoth, Isabel Myers-Miller, Alex Rangel and Elizabeth Warner.

Also dancing the roles of lead characters are Courtney Donnelly, Maddi Hoth, Cheyanne Morgan, Alison Morreale, Bailey Morreale, Sam Myers-Miller, Caitlin Nottingham and Kaitlin Siener.

The following CompanyM members will also be featured during the show: Shannon Cowan, Cassie Donnelly, Olivia Dunbar, Lauren Engel, Amethyst Eriksen, Kaitlin Haley, Lauren Hoth, Katelyn Hughes, Gracie Johnson, Kelsie Kruskol, Elly Lenschow, Maddie Lenschow, Marisa Manhart, Heather Pardridge, Taelynn Rodeghero, Johnna Rohlman, Alexis Salapatek, Maria Saucedo, Allison Troy and Annie Tyrrell.

Several types of dance, including ballet, tap, jazz and hip-hop, will be showcased as each StudioM class is featured as elements from the story.
