Rock Falls author promotes her trilogy

Book signing Sunday in Northland Mall

ROCK FALLS – Rock Falls author Kathie Whitlock doesn’t know where she gets her inspiration, it just seems to come.

“I’ve joked before online and in interviews that I have this magic keyboard that I won’t replace even though some of the letters are worn off,” she said. “I’ll sit down to write and I’ll have some ideas, but I really don’t know what’s going to happen, and suddenly the keyboard types something out.”

Whitlock, 67, publishes romantic novels with a paranormal twist under her pen name, Callie Norse. Her first novel was “For the Love of Lisa.”

The story follows Greg and Lisa, a young married couple with a 6-year old daughter.

“They move into their dream home, and they have no idea it’s haunted,” Whitlock said.

Her second book, which was released at the end of August, is “A Love Too Soon.” It’s “a steamy, story of love ... intermingled with supernatural intrigue,” she said.

They are the first two books in a trilogy that follows the story of the characters from beginning to end.

Whitlock will be at Book World in Northland Mall to sign copies on Sunday.

The third novel, “The Anniversary Not To Be Forgotten,” is written; Whitlock is in the process of editing it.

She also is busy promoting her novels. An active user of Facebook and Twitter, she uses social media to connect with fans around the world.

Until now, “Callie Norse” has kept her true identity to herself.

“I kind of wanted to test the waters, since I had never written before, if I got criticism, then how would I feel?” Whitlock said.

“I do have steamy scenes in it that don’t seem characteristic of me, and I think people are going to be surprised if they know it’s me and have already read it.”
