Naperville resident Andrea Slifka, 20, was at Fiora's Restaurant in Geneva for a pet adoption event sponsored by 4 Paws 4 U 4 Ever, a no-kill shelter, when she answered 10 questions from the Kane County Chronicle's Brenda Schory.
Where did you grow up? I lived in St. Charles until I was 4, and then we moved to Geneva. I'm living in Naperville while attending North Central College.
Pets? We have Topper, a brindle greyhound from Midwest Greyhound Rescue.
Who would play you in the movie of your life? Jennifer Aniston.
First job? Carryouts at Chianti's in Geneva. I was the phone person.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a veterinarian because I love animals and dogs, but I'm too squeamish for that. So now I'm planning on becoming a special education teacher.
A book you'd recommend? "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett.
Favorite charity? The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
Hobbies? Cheerleading. I cheered for Geneva High School, graduated in 2009. And now I cheer for North Central.
Favorite local restaurant? Chianti's in Geneva.
What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I have a blue paw print tattoo to honor my love for dogs on my hip. And inside is a paisley print because we had a chocolate lab named George who always wore bandanas. He died the day before I graduated high school. I loved him very much, and the paisley print honors my old dog George. I wouldn't get a tattoo if it wasn't meaningful.
