50th anniversary

Mary Ann (Belcher) and Ralph David Johnson of Sycamore will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at a special dinner at 6:30 p.m. tonight at Hillside Restaurant in DeKalb.

The couple was married Feb. 3, 1961, at Prospect Street Methodist Church in Marion, Ohio, and are the parents of three children, Rhonda Johnson of Los Angeles, Renee (David) Barton of La Porte, Ind., and Channing Johnson of South Elgin.

Mary Ann is a retired billing specialist from Duplux and Ralph is retired from H.J. Baker Brothers where he was Midwest sales manager.

50th anniversary

William C. and Agnes (Wennemar) Keller of Sycamore will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house from 1-4 p.m. Feb. 19 at Cortland Lions Club, 70 S. Llanos St., Cortland.

The couple was married Jan. 28, 1961, at Wasco Baptist Church in Wasco. They have four children, William Keller Jr. of Sycamore, Daniel Keller of Sycamore, Tammy (Ted) Skelton of Harvard and Teresa (Dave) Dean of Sycamore. They also have four grandchildren.

Wedding

Ted Peterson and Heidi Faivre were married Aug. 14, 2010, at Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore, with a reception following at St. Mary Memorial Hall in Sycamore.

The groom, a contract paramedic for Batavia Fire Department and 2003 Kaneland High School graduate, is the son of Jim and Linda Peterson of Maple Park. The bride, a teacher at Prairie Knolls Middle School in Burlington, is the daughter of Vince and Jerilyn Faivre of DeKalb.

The maid of honor was Anne Faivre, sister of the bride. The best man was Steve Groetsema, cousin of the groom.

80th birthday

Don Overton of Cortland celebrated his 80th birthday this week.

Born Jan. 31, 1931, he celebrated at a private gathering with family and friends, but cards are welcome.

Overton is the father of five children; Geri Overton, Ken (Tammy) Overton, Nancy Overton, Donna (Dale) Pinion and Don Overton. He also is the grandfather of nine; Jessica, Sarah and Elizabeth Pinion, Molly Matheny, Madeline, Kori, Kenneth and Samantha Overton, and Tegan Elias.

Engagement

Caitlin Mullen and John Puterbaugh, both of Sycamore, are engaged to be married Sept. 24, 2011, at the Church of St. Mary in Sycamore.

Mullen is the daughter of Scott Mullen and Donna McDowell Mullen of Charlotte, N.C. She graduated from Oswego High School in Oswego in 2005 and from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. She works as a reporter for the Daily Chronicle in DeKalb.

Puterbaugh is the son of Joe and Robin Puterbaugh of Carmel, Ind. He graduated from Freeport High School in 2004 and from Northern Illinois University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts in journalism. He works as a features reporter for the Kane County Chronicle in St. Charles.

Engagement

Ashley Peterson of Genoa and Chris Boyer of Rock City are engaged to be married July 2, 2011, at First Lutheran Church in Kirkland. 

The daughter of Lenny and Sue Peterson of Genoa, the bride-to-be graduated from Genoa-Kingston High School in 2004. In 2008, she received a Bachelor of Science in Education from Northern Illinois University. She is employed by North Boone School District as a teacher.

The son of Scott and Cindy Boyer, the groom-to-be graduated from Dakota High School in 2002. He is employed by William Charles Construction as a heavy equipment operator.
