NAPERVILLE – Naperville police say they have arrested a male physics teacher and track coach from Metea Valley High School in Aurora for allegedly sexually assaulting a female student.
Police have identified the arrested teacher as 27-year-old Robert Smith, who reportedly lives with his parents in Mokena. He is charged with two courts of criminal sexual assault involving a minor between the ages of 13 and 18.
Smith appeared Tuesday in bond court, where DuPage County Circuit Court Judge Liam Brennan set his bail at $300,000. Authorities did not indicate whether he had an attorney.
Prosecutors told the (Aurora) Beacon-News that Smith allegedly had sexual contact with a 16-year-old student on at least two occasions. It is alleged that Smith took the victim to a Naperville hotel where the assaults occurred.
