PJ’s Courthouse gives back for almost a decade

For nine years, Paul and John Schwartz, owners of PJ's Courthouse and Tavern in Sycamore, have donated the proceeds from PJ's annual golf-outing to Voluntary Action Center's Saturday Meals on Wheels service.

This year, Paul Schwartz presented VAC with a $2,000 check for Meals on Wheels.

"John and I like donating to Meals on Wheels because you can see it working," Schwartz said in a news release.

PJ's makes its annual donation knowing all of the money is used for local services.

"I have been to VAC around lunchtime, and have witnessed everyone working hard to get lunches out to people in need," Schwartz said in the release.

This year, PJ's also donated an extra $500. "We recently made an additional donation, raised during our First Annual Bowling Tournament.

What started as a barroom bowling challenge, snowballed into seven teams that raised $3,800 for various charities," Schwartz said.

Meals on Wheels serves 280 recipients countywide Monday through Friday and 50 recipients on Saturdays.
