William Van Cleave

SENECA, Ill. – Mr. William “Bill” Van Cleave, 72, of Seneca, Ill., passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at Morris Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, at St. Patrick’s Church in Seneca with the Rev. John Coss officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Seneca.

Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 1, at Osborne-Nelson Funeral Home in Seneca.

Pallbearers will be Donnie Brandt, Paul Rivett, Paul Hogue, David Van Cleave, Nick Rosland, Mark and Paul Muarro.

Mr. Van Cleave was born Sept. 18, 1937, in Ottawa, Ill., to Chester and Cecelia (Tautz) Van Cleave. He married Dorene Mooneyham on Dec. 7, 1957, at St. Joseph Church in Marseilles.

He retired in 1997, after 40 years, from Operating Engineers Local 150.

He was a member of St. Patrick Church in Seneca

Surviving are his wife, Dorene; three sons, Stephen (Marcia) Van Cleave of Laddonia, Mo., Michael Van Cleave of DeKalb, Ill., and Thomas Van Cleave of Seneca; two daughters, Beth (Jim) Close of Seneca and Lisa (Edward) Hauck of Shabbona; eight grandchildren, Katelyn Van Cleave, Jennifer Skaggs, James Close, Kristen and Casey Hauck, and Clay, Craig and Whitney Becker; two great-grandchildren, Evan and Kirstyn Skaggs; and two brothers, James and John (Susan) Van Cleave, both of Seneca.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Angela Pinder.
