STERLING – Twenty people led by Trevor Young, youth pastor of First Church of the Nazarene, and his wife, Jenny, gathered June 5-6 for a 30-hour famine exercise.
The event was to raise money for the homeless and starving in other countries.
The group split into tribes or family units for the 30 hours. The tribes competed against each other to survive, and played tribal games related to surviving without a home and food.
The tribes built their home for the night from cardboard boxes, having only duct tape and plastic covers for their shelters.
Those participating in this challenge were Trevor Young, Jenny Young, Haley Grell, Kelsey Middleton, Collin Adams, Stephanie and Brittany Bertolozzi, Brittany Cooper, Haleigh Folkers, Whitney Wildman, Katrina Pageloff, Zach Pageloff, and Kirsten Davenport.
