ROCK FALLS – Lyle W. Partridge, 81, of Dixon, passed away Tuesday morning, May 5, 2009, at home, surrounded by "his girls" and help from hospice after a long illness. He was employed by Northwestern Steel and Wire Co., Sterling, retiring in 1984.
Lyle was born March 14, 1928, in Sterling, the son of John and Gertrude (Eberly) Partridge. He graduated from Rock Falls High School in 1949.
He married Beverly Bogott.
After retirement, Lyle thoroughly enjoyed golf, hunting, reading history, playing cards, gardening, and watching Vanna on "Wheel of Fortune" and other game shows, especially "The Price is Right."
Survivors include his wife, Beverly; four daughters, Barbara (Thomas) Zinanni of Sterling, Brenda Partridge and Beth Partridge, both of League City, Texas, and Betsy Kerner of Rock Falls; as well as one granddaughter, Shaye Hall of Chicago; one grandson, Cooper Kerner; two sisters, Jean and Joan Partridge of Sterling; one brother, Neil (Gyneth) Partridge of Rock Falls; and his beloved pug, Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Memorial service is at 11 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church of Rock Falls, 905 Dixon Ave. Visitation is from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. A luncheon will be served following the service.
Arrangements were completed by Chapel Hill Funeral Home, Dixon.
