Lockport’s boys volleyball team cruised through pool play at the Argo Invitational, winning both matches in straight sets Friday to advance to the championship bracket. The Porters improved to 9-1 on the season by defeating Chicago Mount Carmel, 25-18, 25-10, and Chicago Payton, 25-13, 25-16.
Evan Dziadkowiec paced the Porters with 30 assists in the two matches. Kevin Rodriguez finished with 10 service aces, and Matthew Krzos (13 kills) and Braeden Goebbert (7 kills, 2 blocks) contributed for Lockport.
Softball
Oswego 12, Bolingbrook 3: At Oswego, Aubriella Garza’s three-run double in a three-run third inning lifted Oswego to the win over the visiting Raiders in nonconference play. Garza also went the distance in the circle, allowing five hits while striking out five.

Lincoln-Way West 9, Coal City 0: At Joliet, Olivia Calderone allowed three hits over seven innings in the Warriors’ win at the WJOL Tournament. West broke it open with five runs in the sixth inning. Cameron Ball had three hits and drove in two. Peyton Cusack also had two RBIs in the nonconference win.
Coal City 10, Joliet Catholic 3: At Joliet, the Coalers earned the win at the WJOL Tournament behind Kerrigan Copes, who contributed three hits while driving in three runs. Abbi Gagliardo drove in two runs for Coal City. Briahnna Combes went the distance, striking out one and allowing eight hits.
Coal City 11, Providence 4: At Joliet, a five-run first inning ignited the Coalers to their second win of the day at the WJOL Tournament. Kaitlyn Jasper, Kerrigan Copes and Combes each drove in a pair of runs for Coal City (3-3). Jadyn Shaw had three hits and three knocked in for the winners.
Baseball
Plainfield Central 15, Joliet Central 5: At Minooka, Central scored 11 times in the first three innings in the runaway win over the Steelmen at the WJOL Tournament. Taylor Kujak doubled and drove in four for the Wildcats, who improved to 8-0. Nathan Conrad had two hits and drove in a pair.
Minooka 7, Joliet West 5: At Minooka, Mike Murphy and Caleb Parker each had three hits, and Parker drove in three as Minooka (5-0) hung on for the win at the WJOL Tournament. West (5-4) scored five times in the sixth inning but couldn’t break through.
Bolingbrook 2, Romeoville 1: At Bolingbrook, Marvin Guzman’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh won it for Bolingbrook, earning the Raiders (1-5) their first win of the season. Dalen Lamberson allowed just one run and seven hits over 6⅔ innings for the Raiders.
Wilmington 2, Putnam County 1: At Rantoul, Ryan Banas drove in Nolan Rickmon with a single in the top of the seventh to lift Wilmington (3-1) to the win at the Rantoul Tournament. Ryder Meents, Lucas Rink and Kyle Farrell combined to allow one unearned run in four innings of relief for the Wildcats.
Peotone 11, Kankakee 11: At Kankakee, a wild one in Kankakee ended in a tie between the Kays and Blue Devils. Peotone (1-3-2) scored four times in the top of the seventh to complete the comeback. Connor Janik, Matt Derkacy, and Austin Massat drove in three runs each for Peotone.
Seneca 11, Streator Woodland 1 (6 inn.): At Seneca, Matt Cruise and Owen Quigley each drove in two runs for Seneca (4-1). A four-run sixth inning helped the Fighting Irish to the 10-run rule. Austin Aldridge struck out 13 and allowed one hit over five scoreless innings for Seneca.
Girls Soccer
Lockport 3, Homewood-Flossmoor 0: At Lockport, the host Porters opened conference play in the SouthWest Suburban Blue with the shutout of the visiting Vikings. Tiffany Gianesse, Anna Domina, and Karolina Stasik each scored for Lockport (6-2, 1-0 SWSC). Chloe O’Connor had a pair of saves in recording the shutout.
Bolingbrook 1, Joliet West 1: At Bolingbrook, the Raiders and Tigers played to a tie in nonconference action.
Andrew 2, Lemont 0: At Tinley Park, the Indians fell to host Andrew in a nonconference match.
