Tax Credit Scholarship Program

In honor of National School Choice Week (January 23-29) and National Catholic Schools Week (January 30-February 5), Joliet Catholic Academy celebrates our commitment to offering an excellent Catholic college preparatory education at an affordable price. JCA believes like you do that ALL kids should have access to their best-fit school, regardless of family income or zip code. The Invest in Kids Act Scholarship Program is the policy and program that can expand quality educational options for K-12 students in Will County. In August 2017, with bipartisan support, the Illinois House and Senate passed a comprehensive education funding bill signed into law by the Governor.

JCA is proud to partner with Empower Illinois to provide these life-changing scholarships to low-income and middle-income families. “Tax Credit Scholarships” fund up to $14,070 in tuition to attend Joliet Catholic Academy. Families may also be eligible for 50% ($7,035) and 75% ($10,552.50) scholarships based on household size and income level. The Empower Illinois application is currently available online, free of charge, and requires submission of income documentation.

Since the advent of the program, JCA has awarded 59 students tax credit scholarships totaling nearly $760,000 in scholarships. The tax credit scholarship program has also allowed JCA to award more tuition assistance in the form of merit-based and need-based scholarships to all students.

Partnering with the Diocese of Joliet’s Catholic Education Foundation and FACTS Tuition Management, JCA provides additional scholarships from annual donations to the school and JCA Endowment. Leveraged Financial Aid matches your tuition rate to your family’s unique financial position. In 2021-2022, JCA awarded over $1.8 million in tuition assistance to students through the JCA Leveraged Financial Aid Program, thanks to our generous donors.  So, the tuition at Joliet Catholic Academy is not a one-size-fits-all, and it’s a range that spans about 25% to 90% of the total cost of this high-quality Catholic education (tuition at JCA for the 21-22 school year is $12,990).
