New Lenox Village Board does not vote on Lenny’s Gas N Wash, petitioner addressing more concerns first

At Monday’s New Lenox Village Board meeting, the board had the second reads for the execution of an annexation agreement and rezoning of property for the proposed Lenny’s Gas N Wash.

Typically, second reads result in votes, but the board took no action on the agenda items and it will return at a future meeting.

The petitioner was “hearing more concerns from the board about traffic and so he said he wants to see if there is some other plan he can come up with traffic wise,” Mayor Tim Baldermann said. “He will get that done and bring it back to us and see if that would make a difference.”

Baldermann said he told him that they will not guarantee that it will make a difference, telling him to “proceed at your own risk.”

The board’s next meeting is Feb. 8, but Baldermann was not sure as of Monday night whether this will be back on the agenda at that meeting or the Feb. 22 one.

The petitioner has already to agreed to put curb and gutter on the both sides of the street, move the detention pond, add additional fencing, cut back on the hours of the car wash, and reconfigure the lot.

“They’ve done a lot, but now they’re going to see if there’s more they can do traffic-wise to address that,” Baldermann said.
