Can’t pay rent, mortage or utilities? This grant might help

Funding is available through Will County COMEBACK grants

Financial assistance is still available for Will County residents who need money for rent, mortgage and utilities, according to news release from the Will County executive office.

The funding is available through Will County COMEBACK grants. Residents who missed the previous application period for the Illinois Rental Payment Program funds may be eligible, the release said.

A second application period for ILRPP funds opens Dec. 6. Residents already approved for assistance by for ILRPP funds may not be eligible for additional funds, the release said.

Four Will County agencies are managing applications for the COMEBACK grants. Each agency received $250,000 of housing stabilization funds. Fund may be used for rent, mortgage, and utility payments, the release said.

Will County is also participating in a Court-Based Rental Assistance Program, which is administered by Illinois Housing Development Authority, the release said.

To be eligible, tenants “must have experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19, be behind on your rent, and be under the income limit,” the IDHS website said.
