Lockport residents: destroy old documents for free on June 5

A variety of documents will be accepted

The city of Lockport will hold a free document destruction event for its residents from 10 a.m. to noon June 5.

Attendees should drive into the west parking lot of city hall, located at 222 E. 9th St. Due to current COVID-19 guidelines, a city staff member will remove the papers from each vehicle, according to the news release from the city.

The following materials will be accepted: All paper documents, file folders, hanging files, computer files, computer paper, notepads and envelopes. Please place papers in boxes or bags to make it easier for staff members to remove them from your car. You do not need to remove staples, paperclips, fasteners or rubber bands, the release said.

Do not bring cans and bottles, food and food wrappers, thick metal, copier and printer cartridges, corrugated cardboard, large quantities of plastic, biohazard materials, medical waste and non-recylclable materials, the release said.
