Take 5 Oil Change has city approval for its plan to open in Joliet.
The drive-thru oil-change chain intends to build a shop at 2505 W. Jefferson St., now the site of a vacant car lot formerly used by D’Arcy Hyundai.
The 1.1-acre site is on the corner of Barney Drive.
The City Council on Tuesday approved the special-use permit needed for the business.
Take 5 specializes in 10-minute, drive-thru oil changes, according to the company website. The company has 678 locations in 25 states, including 16 in Illinois.
In Joliet, the company plans include a 1,540-square-foot building with three service bays, a small office and a restroom, according to a city staff report on the project. Planned business hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sundays.
Take 5 will employ eight to 10 workers per shift, according to the staff report.
The nearest Take 5 location to Joliet is in Woodridge. The company has six shops in Chicago and the suburbs with plans to open in Palos Heights, Schaumburg and Mount Prospect.
