A man was shot and killed last week in University Park.
Michael McCarns, 42, of University park was pronounced deceased at 8:20 p.m. Friday in the 700 block of Red Oak Lane, according to Will County Coroner Laure Summers’ office.
McCarns was the victim of an apparent homicide.
Summers did not announce McCarns’ death until Tuesday morning.
The University Park Police Department and the Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force will investigate the incident.
An autopsy of McCarns was performed Saturday.
The autopsy revealed McCarns suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Will County Deputy Chief Dan Jungles, leader of the major crimes task force, said the task force provides assistance in investigations at the request of all police agencies in Will and Grundy counties. He referred further questions on the homicide to University Park Police Department.
University Park police officials did not respond to requests for further information about the incident.
