Lincoln-Way East’s baseball team improved to 3-0 with a 5-1 victory over host Crete-Monee in a nonconference game Friday.
Maxton Polad had two hits and walked twice for the Griffins, while Alex Stanwich and Jake Petak each reached base three times.
SOFTBALL
Lincoln-Way Central 7, Huntley 1: At Lincoln-Way Central, long balls off the bats of Kathryn Ponton and Jamie Widule supported the pitching of Lyndsey Grein.
Grein struck out 12 in a complete-game effort as the Knights improved to 4-0. Ponton hit a three-run homer, and Widule went deep with one runner aboard.
FOOTBALL
Seneca 32, Dwight 6: At Dwight, the Irish scored 24 points in the fourth quarter after leading only 8-6 after three.
Seneca got rushing touchdowns in the final quarter from Chase Hauch (22 yards), Nathan Grant (two yards) and Mason Daggett (32 yards).
Lincoln-Way Central 42, Stagg 0: At Stagg, the Knights cruised in Southwest Suburban Conference action.
BOYS TENNIS
Lincoln-Way Central 5, Oak Lawn 0: At Lincoln-Way Central, the Knights swept in their season opener.
GIRLS VOLLEYBALL
Providence 2, Lincoln-Way West 0: At Providence, the Celtics won, 25-19, 25-15.
Bella Been had five kills and nine digs for West in its season finale. Paige Ciesla led the team with four block assists and three solo blocks.
THURSDAY’S RESULT
Plainfield Central 2, Joliet West 1: At Plainfield Central, Kerrigan Candra racked up 16 kills and 17 digs as the Wildcats celebrated senior night by rallying for a 23-25, 25-23, 25-15 win.
Plainfield Central (4-2) also received big efforts from Kinsey Bakhaus (17 assists, four blocks), Maddy Brock (11 assists) and Kailey Fearday (four aces).
