Political correspondent Tal Schneider to speak at Joliet Jewish Congregation

Registration, facemasks, required for Monday’s event

Tal Schneider, the political and diplomatic correspondent for the Times of Israel, will speak about “Israel Society at the Crossroads” at the Joliet Jewish Congregation on Monday, according to a news release from the congregation.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. at the synagogue, located at 250 N. Midland Ave. in Joliet.

Schneider covers the “Israeli political scene, Israeli foreign policy, the U.S.-lsrael relationship, Middle East diplomacy and the Jewish world in her daily beat” with The Times of Israel, the release said.

She also served as Maariv’s Washington, D.C. correspondent from 2004 to 2009.

Schneider received the 2012 Google Digital Excellence in Journalism Award for her previous “influential political blog” and the 2015 Ometz Award “for courage in the public sphere and integrity,” the release said.

She previously worked as a media lawyer in Israel and handled “censorship cases, gag orders and libel court litigation,” the release said.

Schneider is a founding member of Israel’s Journalism Association, a founding member of Israel Women Reporters Society, and a frequent commentator on Israeli radio and television. Although she lives in Israel, Schneider frequently visits the U.S.
