1) Come out to the Four Rivers Environmental Education Center on Saturday and learn how to use nature to make Valentine’s Day cards. The event is free and runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Ages 5 and older. 2) Join the “Bombie the Abominable Snowman Hunt” from 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Messenger Woods Nature Preserve in Homer Glen. Attendees at this free event will sing songs, go on a 1-mile hike in search of the abominable snowman and then make s’mores over the campfire. Ages 3 to 8. Register by Friday. 3) The Double Treble Dueling Pianos will perform from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday at American Legion Thomas Hartung Post 1977, 14414 Ford Drive, New Lenox. 4) MorningStar Mission will host the Great Meatloaf Cookoff from noon to 2 p.m. Sunday at Double “J” Sports Bar, 1001 Essington Road in Joliet. The cost is $10 to enter the meatloaf contest and $5 to eat. The event benefits the men, women and children at MorningStar Mission.
