Welcome to The Herald-News’ Will County Inside/Outside Guide. Each week, Features Editor Denise M. Baran-Unland (@Denise_Unland61) highlights a few ideas for you to enjoy your weekend in Will County.

It’s shaping up to be a beautiful weekend in Will County. After a year of viritual programs, here are five outdoor events you can enjoy this weekend.

Live @Lunch Acoustic Music Series

Come on down to Van Buren Street Plaza from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday and enjoy an acoustic performance featuring The Jib Brothers Band while enjoyng your brown bag lunch or carryout from a downtown Joliet restaurant. The stage is directly across the Rialto Square Theatre. The event is free (no need to register) but you will have to bring your own chair.

Hosted by the Illinois Rock & Roll Museum on Route 66 through the Joliet City Partnership.

Families of Faith Carnival

This carnival will be held on Families of Faith church grounds at 24466 W Eames St. in Channahon.

Times are 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Paint with Pride

Come out to the back the Bolingbrook Village Hall, located at 375 West Briarcliff Road, and show your LGBTQ Pride by painting rainbows and rainbow designs with washable paint around the lake behind village hall.

Wear “painting” clothes and be sure to register to help ensure enough supplies for all attendees. Facemasks are required.

Live Storywalk at Rock Run Preserve

On Saturday, the Joliet Public Library will set up three storytime stations along the walking path between the Joliet Public Library Black Branch and the Essington Road entrance of the preserve. Stop by each station between 9:30 and 11 a.m. for a short story and some music. Registration is not required but facemaks are required for anyone ages 2 and up who is not fully vaccinated.

Cavalcade of Planes 2021

Come out to Clow International Airport from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday for this event that includes many types of aircraft (flying and on the ground), as well as formation flying, helicopter demonstrations, food and drink and much more.
