Lake County Judge Christopher Kennedy was leading Wednesday in the three-way race to be the Democratic nominee for the Illinois Appellate Court’s 2nd District this fall.

Competitive races line both the Democratic and Republican ballots as early voting continues ahead of Tuesday’s primary election. Here's a round-up of who and what is on the ballot.

Three Democrats are running in the 2nd District, which includes McHenry, Lake, Kane, Kendall and DeKalb counties. The winner will go on to face the Republican candidate in the fall.
