Letter: Crystal Lake, weed capital of the suburbs?

Crystal Lake planning and zoning commission will vote to eliminate a restriction limiting the number of marijuana dispensaries in the city. As part of the vote they will want the ability to put dispensaries closer to schools, daycares, churches and parks. Seems to me this is a step in the wrong direction for Crystal Lake. I could understand if we were hurting for tax revenue but we have one of the busiest business corridors up and down Route 14 then the other Northwest suburbs. Are we trying to change the perception of Crystal Lake from being great place to live and raise a family to the weed capital of the burbs? While I don’t have issue with those that want to partake, I do struggle with the messaging for my children how their hometown continues to expand and support the use of drugs.
