Letter: Changes with Biden as president

To the Editor:

Mr. President Elect and Ms. Vice-President Elect, Messers. Biden and Harris,

Congratulations with the victory achieved over a month ago!

You both fought to be in an important but not enviable position, important because you have the tools to do great things for our country, but not enviable for the condition in which you received our nation.

Economy and pandemic are mechanical issues, without diminishing their vital importance, means and brains to resolve those – exist. Beyond these problems stands a much more important situation, more difficult to resolve by several degrees of magnitude – the division that always existed between the persons with integrity and those who believe that the world ends at the borders of our nation, between the inclusive and the racist people, both present in our midst.

To disguise my shortcoming of discovering the obvious, I submit the burning need to elevate the dismal level of our primary and secondary education, which trails far behind other developed countries’, as well as that of not so developed ones.

China, India, and the European countries have left us behind in a cloud of dust long ago, that is a serious national security threat. Obamacare must be improved and made fully part of our taxes, anyone who has lived abroad can testify to the feasibility of this proposal, a sick population is also a serious national security issue.

I also wish your administration could convince the nation to eliminate the already obsolete Electoral College, in several of the latest presidential elections the popular vote was not reflected in the outcome of the races.

The appointment of Supreme Court judges should not me made by the sitting president but later be elected by the people to a limited term.

I wish us success with your administration.
