Mercyhealth hires new vice president of people and culture

Mercyhealth hired Alen Brcic as its new vice president of people and culture, effective Aug. 23, the health system said in a news release.

Mercyhealth is a multi-regional health system based in Janesville, Wisconsin, with seven hospitals and 85 primary and specialty care locations serving 55 northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin communities. It currently has full-service hospitals in Harvard and Rockford with another location under construction in Crystal Lake.

“Mercyhealth understands that its people are the most important asset to the organization, and [Brcic] will elevate a people-driven culture by focusing on three key success factors: integration, a culture of excellence and accountability, with special emphasis on system-wide strategies to drive employee and physician engagement,” the health system said in a news release.

Brcic brings 15 years of experience in human resources operations for health care organizations, including Novant Health in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt Health in Nashville, Tennessee. He also founded Alliance Business Solutions, a service that provides translation, interpreting, transcription and other language services.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in computer and information science and a master’s degree in leadership and conflict management at Lipscomb University, Nashville.
