McHenry Jiffy Lube employee killed last week identified as Crystal Lake man

Police yet to announce citations or charges

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office on Monday identified 29-year-old Crystal Lake man Joseph Majko as the Jiffy Lube employee killed Friday after being struck by a vehicle at the McHenry business.

Majko was hit by a Jeep driven by a 91-year-old woman, McHenry police reported.

An initial investigation found the Jeep was exiting a vehicle service bay when it accelerated and struck Majko, according to a news release Friday.

Police had not announced the issuance of any citations or filing of charges related to the incident as of Monday, and a department spokesman declined to provide any further update Monday.

The coroner’s office performed an autopsy Monday and said the preliminary findings show blunt force trauma as the cause of death.

Results of toxicology tests from the autopsy are pending, according to a news release from the coroner’s office Monday.
