Crystal Lake Walmart opens free ‘community academy’ to public

The Crystal Lake Walmart will offer free – virtual for now – classes for the public on topics such as résumé building and interviewing skills; standardized test preparation and navigating college admissions; and how to purchase a car or home.

The stores had set up its community academies, including one in the Walmart Supercenter in Crystal Lake, to train Walmart employees on retail skills and help them grow in their careers, according to the release.

“The long-term goal was to use the Academies to also help our communities, and this marks the first step,” the company said in the release.
