Torn, faded flags can be retired at drop boxes in Crystal Lake, Fox River Grove

Turned-in flags will properly be dispose of during a ceremony on Flag Day in June

This Flag Day, the Cary-Grove AmVets Post 245 will hold a flag retirement ceremony at its new location at the Algonquin Township office in Crystal Lake.

The ceremony will begin at 2 p.m. June 14 in the back of the building.

Those looking to retire their frayed, torn or faded flags ahead of the ceremony can do so by dropping them in drop boxes at the Algonquin Township office, 3702 Route 14 in Crystal Lake, and in Fox River Grove across the street from the Village Hall, 400 Lucille Ave., next to the Water Rescue Station, according to a news release.

The drop boxes are available year round. Questions can be directed to Bob DePaul at 847-508-3572.
