Improvement to the Route 14 bridge over the Fox River in Cary and Fox River Grove will begin Monday.
Route 14, which also is Northwest Highway in that location, will be reduced to one lane in each direction from Ebert Drive to Opatrny Drive, according to a news release.
Left turns from southeast-bound Route 14 onto River Road and the Arlington Club at 215 Route 14 will not be allowed. Motorists can follow the posted detour.
The project includes deck and joint repairs and the installation of a new deck overlay. It is expected to be complete in late September, according to the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Motorists can expect delays and should allow extra time for trips through the area, according to IDOT. Drivers also should pay close attention to flaggers and signs in the work zones, obey posted speed limits and be on alert for workers and equipment.
More than 3,300 miles of highway and 8.4 million square feet of bridge deck are planned by IDOT over the next six years as part of the Rebuild Illinois capital program, which is investing $33.2 billion into all modes of transportation.
